What it helps with

What you'll notice

  • No more white crust on faucets

That chalky buildup on faucets, showerheads, and glass doors is hard-water minerals. The softener removes them before they reach your taps.

  • Spot-free dishes and glasses

Without those minerals, dishes and glassware dry clearer and soap scum builds up far more slowly.

  • Softer skin and hair

Soap rinses off easily in soft water, so many people notice less dryness and itchiness after a shower.

  • Appliances that last longer

Scale coats the inside of water heaters, dishwashers, and washing machines. Stopping it helps them run efficiently for longer.

  • No more pool smell or taste

The carbon tank reduces chlorine and chloramine, the disinfectants cities add, so every tap tastes and smells clean.

  • Can help reduce PFAS

Activated carbon is one of the home treatment methods the EPA says can reduce PFAS, the 'forever chemicals' such as PFOA and PFOS.

Good to know

  • You'll add salt to the brine tank now and then. It holds about two bags.
  • Softening adds a small amount of sodium to your water. If you're watching sodium, the tankless RO system removes it at the kitchen tap.
  • Designed for city water. If you're on a well with iron or sulfur, see our well-water systems.

How it works

What happens to your water

  1. 1

    Softening tank

Resin captures the calcium and magnesium in your water as it enters the house, so scale stops building up in pipes, fixtures, and appliances.

  2. 2

    Carbon tank

Softened water then flows through its own bed of coconut-shell carbon, which takes out chlorine, chloramine, and the tastes and smells they cause.

  3. 3

    Brine regeneration

Typically about once a month, the valve recharges the resin with salt water from the brine tank and rinses the carbon tank clean.

What's included

  • 10% cross-linked resin softener tank for hardness and scale
  • Separate coconut-shell carbon tank for chlorine and chloramine
  • The carbon tank is cleaned automatically along with the softener
  • Ceramic-disc digital valve with 72-hour memory backup
  • Brine tank that holds about two bags of salt

Every system is sized from your free in-home water test and installed by our own technicians.

What does a whole-home system actually do?

It sits where the water line enters your house, so every shower, faucet, and appliance gets treated water, not just one tap.

Do I need a softener, a filter, or both?

Softeners fix hardness (scale, spots, dry skin). Filters fix taste, smell, and contaminants like chlorine. Many homes have both problems. The free water test shows which ones you have.

How does reverse osmosis work?

Water is pushed through a very fine membrane that lets water molecules pass and holds back dissolved solids. Our alkaline stage then adds a little mineral back for a smoother taste.

Will treatment lower my water pressure?

A properly sized system shouldn't cause a noticeable drop. We size tanks and valves to your home's plumbing and flow rate for that reason.

How much does a system cost?

It depends on your water and the size of your home. After the free test you'll get a written, itemized quote with no surprises.

Do you work with private wells?

Yes. Well water often needs iron, sulfur, or sediment treatment on top of softening, so we tailor the setup to your test results.

How long does installation take?

Most installs finish in a single day. We run the system, check for leaks, and show you how everything works before we leave.

What maintenance is involved?

Softeners need salt added every so often; the brine tank holds about two bags. On the RO system, the pre and post filters are changed every 6 months and the RO filter once a year. We'll remind you when they're due.

Is there financing?

Flexible monthly payment options are available for qualifying customers. Ask about them during your consultation.

What does the warranty cover?

Qualifying equipment carries a lifetime warranty. You'll receive the full terms in writing with your quote.
